In the U.S. - Student activities include: participation in a simulated mission to Mars - discussions about the Space Shuttle program - exploration of constellations – investigations on the life cycle of a star - learning how to protect planet Earth - exploring space career opportunities - aerodynamics and paper airplane contests - signing Signatures in Space posters - viewing lunar and meteorite samples - sampling astronaut food and making astronaut patches - holding rocket design and launch contests - space and STEM education - studying Hubble Space Telescope discoveries - learning about satellites and much, much more.

Around the Globe in 2010 - Space Day welcomes our global neighbors to the celebration of Space Day! This year, Space Day activities are being held in Brazil, Canada, Germany, India and Kuwait.

  • Students in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceara, Brazil will learn about and observe Saturn, Venus, Mars and deep sky objects through two public reflector telescopes
  • In Ontario, Canada, students will be immersed in information and facts to educate them on the intriguing mysteries of space
  • German students will participate in activities studying the moon, Mars, Venus and Saturn and its ring
  • In India, at the Surya Science Center, space science will capture the imagination of youngsters; and at the Gurudev Observatory, students will receive a lecture, a multimedia sky watching experience and analyze natural radio emissions with the help of NASA’s Radio JOVE program
  • In Kuwait, students will learn about space technologies and amateur radio volunteers will try to contact the International Space Station to ask questions about space. A star gazing and an educational competition will take place at The Scientific Center.
