Space-Past, Present Future
1st grade students will review planets, moon, and space. Students will learn about the different ways people have gone into space. Every year we study a new "space" topic. We have studied how astronauts live while in space and we have studied about the different launches. Last year, our school was a participant in Signatures in Space and we launched our poster. The entire student body and staff spent the day making sure that everyone got a chance to sign while being interviewed and photographed for several local papers.

Technology is out of this world
The entire school is involved in studying the solar system through books and technology. Then each floor is concentrating on a special part of the solar system. First floor is the planets, second floor is the constellations and the third floor is the universe. Each floor spends time researching their particular assignment and then create a technology project. The projects are then displayed along with artwork and writings from the students. Parents are then invited to attend the technology night called "Technology is out of this World". Projects are then sent to the school district technology fair on April 23rd.

Balst Off into Space
This is a week long summer enrichmnet program for at-risk students. Celebrating Space Day with Out of this World Activities
There will be many events leading up to Space Day. 4th grade students will videoconference with NASA Langley research center to learn about the geological features of Mars, comparisions of Earth and Mars, and the exploration of Mars. Students will aslo build Mars landers and launch them. 2nd grade students will learn about the Hubble Space Telescope and the Kepler Space Telescope. Each student will construct a model of Hubble. Kindergarten students will investigate \"space sand\" pretending the sand is a sample returned from Mars. They will compare the space sand with regular sand. Help us celebrate Space Day at our 15th Annual Family Science Morning on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 9 AM - Noon. Children's ages 6 and up, along with their parents, can participate in numerous hands-on activities and demonstrations designed and implemented by our area high school students. Take a tour of our Spacecraft and Mission Control Simulators, and view a StarLab show. Students in 5th grade and up also have a chance to participate in a simulated mini space mission for 1 hour.
