Public Star Party
Friday, May 7, 2010, Space Day coincides with a regularly scheduled Public Star Party, sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, at the Mingo Creek Park Observatory. Please follow this link and from it download and link to additional information. https://nightsky.jpl.nasa.gov/event-view.cfm?Event_ID=14678 Weather permitting, we will offer views through two fixed telescopes, a 24 inch R-C, and a 10 inch refractor, as well as planetarium performances. Outside of the observatory our members share views through their personal telescopes. There is no fee for this event, although donations help us to continue to offer these events. The observatory owned and operated by the Amateur Astronomers Assoc. of Pittsburgh, and staffed entirely by volunteers. There is no water on the grounds for drinking, nor for washing. Come prepared. If your group is interested in attending en masse, please contact us in advance, that we may be prepared. Otherwise, individuals need not make reservations. Generations in Space
Our school will celebrate "Grandparent's Day" on 05/07/2010, along with Space Day. Students and their visiting grandparents will work in teams to design "Spud Rovers" for travel on mars and drawing pictures of outer space.

Space Day 2010
Working for credit toward a Space Exploration merit badge, scouts of Troop 229 will view and discuss videos and live presentations on the history of NASA, the future of NASA, the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, the Hubble Space Telescope, military uses of space, and commercial uses of space. They will enjoy a tour of planets and galaxies through images provided by the Hubble Space Telescope and hear from astronauts (via videos) including, but not limited to, Pam Melroy, Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, and Charles Bolden.

Science Behind Science Fiction
The students of New River Middle School in Fort Lauderdale, FL will spend the day celebrating space exploration by watching a science fiction movie (space-based!) and uncovering the science behind the science fiction. We will be focusing on the topics like: light speed, intergalactic travel, light sabers, force fields, black holes, invisibility cloaks, cloning, androids, and more!

Space Career Day
Students participating include middle and high school age. Girls will learn about the space shuttle program; have an opportunity to hear and speak to a female engineer from a local aerospace company affilitated with the NASA space program. Girls will also do fun hands on science experiments on topics such as physical science, material science, astronomy, and engineering. They will also be able to have their picture taken as an astronaut, and also be able to send their name to Mars/space via computer/internet access. Girls will learn that the earth is a valuable resource and what we need to do to preserve it and find ways to go green.

3rd Annual Space Day at Roxborough Elementary
The day starts with a recorded message from Astronaut Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger. In the morning there is an all school assembly with the theme "Celebrating the Space Shuttle" by Mark Yoss from Lockheed Martin combined with "The International Space Station" by Peggy Carruthers from NASA. In the afternoon, the students rotate through hands on activities of Mission Patches, Edible Spacecraft, Rocket Sled, Hovercraft, 1000 Years of Exploration, Tilt-n-Whirl, Water Rocket Launch, Egg Lander and Video Spacewalk.

The Challenger Learning Center at Paducah will hold Space Day for local fourth grade students. After a morning program with a live Skype interview with Kentucky's astronaut, Terry Wilcutt, students will rotate to different activity stations. Sky to night
General community and the students in particular from the city of Shillong and its suburbs will be invited to visit the University for Night Sky Watch. We intend to do some hands on activities and use Star Lab (inflatable planetarium) to discover the constellations of the Zodiac belt and also the constellation tonight. If the sky will be clear, We may enable the participants to enjoy an exciting view of the Milky way.

The Space Day in Juazeiro do Norte
To celebrate Space Day 2010, the Space Generation PieGise in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceara, Brazil, available to the public two reflector telescopes and refractor telescope for observing the planet Saturn and its rings and moons, the planets Venus and Mars, and the observations of deep sky objects. Before the observations, the public on the place receive information about celestial objects to be observed and the Space Day 2010 celebration. The observations will be held from 18:30 to 21:30 on May 7 on the sidewalk School José Bezerra, in front of the Estação Astronômica PieGise.
