Sharonville, OH 45241
If you’ve ever wanted to fly a blimp, program a robot, launch a rocket or touch a real meteorite, you won’t want to miss iSPACE’s 6th annual free family event celebrating Space Day 2010. It’s all about getting students excited about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Hands-on "space stations" will allow kids and kids at heart to try on a space suit, ride a hovercraft, see NASA memorabilia, watch demonstrations on how liquid nitrogen can freeze a flower before their eyes, send pop rockets soaring skyward, make cool cosmic crafts, try their hand at piloting a plane on a flight simulator and more. Students can learn what it takes to be part of a FIRST LEGO® League, Junior FIRST LEGO® or FIRST Tech Challenge team by programming and driving a robot, talking to award winning team members and perhaps finding other students interested in forming a team with them. Be sure to arrive early to get your ticket to one of the inflatable planetarium shows. (Free show tickets available as first-come, first served since "space" is limited. ) Prepare to blast-off with the crew from iSPACE and local exhibitors for a day filled with fun space adventures! 3rd Annual Da Vinci Rocket Festival
The Da Vinci Rocket Festival has grown from a single 5th grade class to an event that involves all the students in fourth and fifth grade. Students are invited to build a paper rocket with specific dimensions so that it can be launched from an air pressure launcher. Well designed rockets can fly over 300 feet on 50 pounds per square inch in the launcher. Before the launch, all the rockets are displayed in the cafeteria and students vote for those with the best design, the most artistic, the most futuristic, and the craziest. The competition is all in fun, but every student launches their rocket and witnesses how it flies.
