3rd Annual Da Vinci Rocket Festival
The Da Vinci Rocket Festival has grown from a single 5th grade class to an event that involves all the students in fourth and fifth grade. Students are invited to build a paper rocket with specific dimensions so that it can be launched from an air pressure launcher. Well designed rockets can fly over 300 feet on 50 pounds per square inch in the launcher. Before the launch, all the rockets are displayed in the cafeteria and students vote for those with the best design, the most artistic, the most futuristic, and the craziest. The competition is all in fun, but every student launches their rocket and witnesses how it flies. The entire school participates with the younger grade levels watching and becoming count down specialists.
